KIM WAN
BA(AS) MArch
Architectural designer
Kim comes from Hong Kong, a seaside city not unlike Margate. He joined Studio Sam Causer after completing his master’s degree in architecture at the University of Cambridge.
Kim is interested in how towns and buildings can stand the test of time. He explores how design and architectural details can respond to the existing character of a building while meeting contemporary needs. His personal academic research focuses on the obsolescence and reuse of historic buildings and their importance to the public realm.
After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Hong Kong, he worked at Rocco Designs Architects Associates, participating in mixed-use developments and urban masterplans in Hong Kong. He also worked with Conrad Koslowsky Architects in London on small-scale residential projects, enjoying the technical challenges of working with existing buildings.
Outside of architecture, Kim can be found reading or training for his bike trips to France.
