Suppermarket was part of the Ephemeral Cities exhibition within Deptford X festival of contemporary art, 2005.  The project was by Pankof Bank, an arts practice founded by Sam Causer and artists Simon Fujiwara and Manon Awst to operate in the fields of art, architecture and performance.

The project explored food politics and urbanism by reconstructing a microcosm of the food industry in a gallery on Deptford High Street.  The artists grew vegetables in a skip-greenhouse on the street and served soup daily to passing trade. Conceived as an experiment in free-urbanism, the gallery became an open space for people to eat, cook and discuss the issues raised about food and their locality. Each night meals were hosted for six carefully chosen guests ranging from food producers to distributors and consumers.  Food industry chairmen, herb gardeners, school children and lorry drivers came in to share food and found common ground for discussion about the way their city is changing.
