1895 CECIL HOTEL
Cliftonville, Margate
2017
In 2017 we completed the conservation and refurbishment of this special, turn-of-the-century building in Cliftonville, Margate. Over the past 120 years, the building has been a grand family home, a hotel, boarding house and holiday flat-lets; we set out to retain this generous flexibility, continuing to respond to the changing needs of Margate's visitors.
The project was generously supported by the Dalby Square Townscape Heritage Initiative regeneration programme, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Thanet District Council. This project is one of four we have worked on with support from the THI scheme, the other three being the 1880s Terraced House, 1870s House and Dalby Square Gardens.
We're delighted the project has been awarded the 2018 Margate Civic Society TOWN PRIDE AWARD.
